We’re All About Convenience In Care

Our new technology: Sirona 3D CBCT digital imaging

When we find dental technology that helps to give you a more comfortable and predictable dental experience, we’re all for it. After all – our goal is the same as yours – to give you the beautiful, healthy, and functional smile you want, need, and deserve! We are now using 3D CBCT digital imaging – or cone beam x-rays – because we know it will give us the most-accurate, beneficial information to guide your treatment plan.

What Are Cone Beam Digital X-Rays?

With a cone beam x-ray machine, we receive highly detailed digital images of your teeth, soft tissue (including gums and ligaments), sinuses, nerve pathways, and bone.

How Do I Prepare For A Cone Beam Scan?

The only preparation is to remove all things with metal that you wear above your shoulders, e.g. earrings, piercings, hair accessories, glasses, necklaces, hearing aids…

Lower Exposure To Radiation

Cone beam x-rays are great for helping us explain to you what is happening in your mouth, why treatment is necessary, and how it will help your smile. Bonus? It delivers less radiation than traditional film x-rays.

We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health. Our community has been through a lot and we are looking forward to safely resuming our normal habits and routines.

The COVID-19 pandemic presented challenges that had a devastating impact to our business. After weighing several options, Midwestern Dental Lansing made the difficult decision to shut their doors permanently despite having been a staple in Michigan for many years and have been proud to service you and your families.

Nonetheless, in order to ensure a smooth transition of care, Midwestern Dental Lansing explored several dental practices as an appropriate home for their patient base. According to Midwestern Dental Lansing, their single, most important goal, when selecting your new dental home was that you would be provided the very best possible dental care in a safe and friendly environment.

As such, we are pleased to inform you that Midwestern Dental Lansing chose East Lansing Modern Dental (ELMD) to serve as a possible dental provider for its patients. We at ELMD are confident that we will provide you with the quality dental care you deserve. Feel free to reach out to ELMD to inquire if your dental records were transferred to us.

Our friendly team at East Lansing Modern Dental will also help to answer questions on your transition of care to our office.

The ELMD team wants to reassure you that it strictly follows universal precautions and will continue to keep you safe. They believe there is a solution to this pandemic and are doing their part. Each member of the team has either already been or is in the process of being vaccinated. Plus it has incorporated new infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We have made a lot of smart changes since the beginning of the pandemic and will continue to follow the activities, studies, and findings of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued.

Most importantly, we want you to know that it is safe to come in for your dental care. The dentist’s office is one of the most sterile environments you will ever be in. To illustrate why, below is a list of only some of the safety measures that help protect you, other patients, the team, and our community.

Patient Screening – The office will contact you before your appointment to ask some pre-appointment health screening questions.
Patient Check-In – When you arrive at East Lansing Modern Dental, call or text from your car.
Strategically Scheduled Appointments – To allow for social distancing between patients, we are carefully scheduling patients.

Office Additions:

Pure UV Aire: This state-of-the-art air filtration system neutralizes airborne bacteria, viruses, fungi, and mold. Air quality is improved as the HVAC system keeps AC cool and free of biofilm.
Blueair Air Purifier: Its filter removes 99% of airborne pollutants. In a 161 square-foot area, the air is recycled five times an hour, continually cleansing the air we breathe.
Germicidal UV Light: Portable columns beam UV light into our rooms to decontaminate the area. Traditionally found in hospital settings, these devices use UV-C, which is ultraviolet light with a shorter wavelength for effective sanitization, touting pathogen kill rates higher than 99.9%.
60-Second Hydrogen Peroxide Rinse: Before your treatment begins, they will ask you to rinse with a hydrogen peroxide rinse (effective against viruses, bacteria, yeasts, and bacteria).
Dental Leaf: High performance hands-free suction device, used to remove aerosols. Dental Leaf provides increased patient comfort and safety during treatment.
Additional Protection: In addition to masks, gloves, and glasses, we will be wearing face shields, gowns, hair and shoe protectors. But not to worry…you’ll still see the smiles in their eyes!
